Dalea

Dalea, commonly known as Prairie Clover, is a genus of plants in the pea family Fabaceae.

Some species
Dalea albiflora (Scruffy Prairie Clover, Whiteflower Prairie Clover) is a perennial subshrub or herb of the subfamily Faboideae in the Pea Family-(Fabaceae). It is found in the southwestern United States and Northwestern Mexico in the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Sonora, and Chihuahua. Whiteflower Prairie Clover is a low-lying subshrub with horizontal spreading gray-green pinnate leaves. The flowers are vertical with multiple inflorescenses; both flowers and leaves are extremely oily and resinous, and leave perfume-like odors on any surface: hands, boots, etc.

Dalea chrysophylla is a species of legume in the Fabaceae family. It is found only in Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montanes.

Dalea emoryi, common names, (Dyebush, White dalea, or Emory's Indigo Bush) is a perennial legume shrub, or subshrub common to the desert mesas of the southern part of the U.S. states of Arizona and California, and regions of the Mexican state of Baja California.
It is found in low desert locations, especially sandy mesas; it grows to 3-4 feet (1 m). It has purple, terminal pea-like flower clusters. The plant is fragrant, and oily and is used for staining or dyes.
The leaves are hairy, and grayish-white, a color helping reflect sunlight. It flowers from March to June, and persists until the hottest, or driest weather prevails near early or mid-summer.

Dalea jamesonii is a species of legume in the Fabaceae family. It is found only in Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.

Dalea mollis is a species of flowering plant in the legume family which is known by the common name hairy prairie clover. This wildflower is native to the deserts where Mexico meets the US states of California and Arizona. It is a common member of various desert ecosystems in the region. It tends to form small, flat patches on the gravelly desert floor and on slopes and weedy roadsides. This is a small cloverlike mat-forming annual legume with gland-dotted foliage covered thickly in long white hairs. The leaves are made up of several pairs of small, folded, oval-shaped leaflets each about a centimeter long. The plant flowers in pea-like blooms just under a centimeter wide which may be lavender, yellow, or white, sometimes bicolored. The fruit is a small, single-seeded legume pod.

Dalea mollissima is a species of flowering plant in the legume family which is known by the common names soft prairie clover and downy dalea. This wildflower is quite similar in appearance to its close relative, Dalea mollis, but its foliage is covered with thinner, downier hairs. This is a plant of the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts and nearby mountains. It is a small, mat-forming annual or perennial herb which grows in patches on the desert floor and slopes. Its leaves are made up of several pairs of oval-shaped fuzz-covered leaflets. It bears fluffy inflorescences of pea-like flowers in white or lavender. The fruit is a single-seeded legume pod.

Dalea ornata (Blue Mountain prairie clover) is a perennial subshrub or herb of the subfamily Faboideae in the Pea Family-(Fabaceae). It is found in the western United States in the states of Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, and Nevada.

Dalea pulchra (Santa Catalina prairie clover, Indigo Bush) is a perennial shrub or subshrub of the subfamily Faboideae in the Pea Family-(Fabaceae). It is found in the southwestern United States and Northwestern Mexico in the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Sonora, and Chihuahua, in the Madrean sky islands region and associated areas.

Dalea searlsiae, Searls' prairie clover, is an uncommon perennial legume found in southern Nevada, USA, and the eastern Mojave Desert. The plant grows to 20 inches in height and has purple flowers. It is usually found alongside sagebrush and piñon-juniper woodlands.
