Maianthemum
Maianthemum (including former Smilacina) is a genus of about 30 species of flowering plants in the family Ruscaceae, native to North America, Central America, northern Europe, northern and eastern Asia, and the Himalaya. The name derives from Latin for "May flower".

Maianthemum canadense (Canadian May-lily, Canada Mayflower, False Lily-of-the-valley, Canadian Lily-of-the-valley, Twoleaved Solomonseal) is a dominant understory perennial flowering plant in the family Ruscaceae, native to the sub-boreal conifer forests in Canada and the northern United States, from Yukon and British Columbia east to Newfoundland and south to Nebraska and Pennsylvania, and also in the Appalachian Mountains to northern Georgia. It can be found growing under both evergreen and deciduous trees.
Maianthemum dilatatum (Snakeberry, Two-leaved Solomon's Seal or Wild Lily of the Valley) is a common rhizomatous flowering plant in the family Ruscaceae. M. dilatatum has a very extensive range; from Oregon, northern California. to Alaska, through the Aleutian islands, then further west to Russia, Japan, and Korea. It grows in coastal temperate rainforests, and is often the dominant groundcover plant in Sitka Spruce forests.

The flowers are produced on a 10-15 cm panicle, each flower with six white tepals 3-6 mm long blooming in late spring. The plants produce green fruits that are round and turn red in late summer.

Maianthemum trifolium is a species of flowering plant in the family Ruscaceae, native to Canada and the northeastern United States, from Yukon and British Columbia east to Newfoundland and south to Delaware. It is a herbaceous perennial plant growing to 25 cm tall, with alternate, oblong-lanceolate leaves 5-12 cm long and 2-4 cm broad. The flowers are produced on a 5-10 cm panicle, each flower with six white tepals 2-4 mm long.
