Valeriana


Valeriana is a genus of flowering plants in the family Valerianaceae. It includes a number of species of which the best known is the garden valerian Valeriana officinalis. Some species are native to Europe, others to North America and South America (especially in the Andes). It is popularly used as a soporific.
